In Côte d'Ivoire and throughout West Africa, agriculture is a mainstay of the economy. The sector accounts for between 30 and 50% of GDP in most countries and remains a major source of income and livelihood for over 700% of the population. Yet, farmers face various challenges in maintaining acceptable and sustainable production levels. In addition to farmers, other actors in the agricultural value chain also struggle to achieve their production targets.

 

Resistance to plant diseases (50% of agricultural production losses in Côte d’Ivoire are related to plant diseases), effective land management and traceability of farmers activities represent some of the toughest challenges farmers are faced with today.
